Migrating to SharePoint 2019
With the release of SharePoint
2019, Microsoft brings together the best from SharePoint Online and SharePoint
Server. Below, we’ve combined a why you should move to SharePoint 2019.
Improved Admin Management
Administrative controls of
SharePoint has improved a lot over the years, and the latest iteration is no
slouch. By Incorporating both SharePoint and OneDrive, you’ll now be able to
see your whole organization, understand where your activity is, discover dead
sites, and a lot more. They’ve borrowed specific characteristics from
SharePoint Online, including a website Management page where you can filter and
search all of your SharePoint settings.
More secured
SharePoint 2019 has brought
some fantastic security features, which is one of the main reason why
organizations are choosing on-site SharePoint over SharePoint. Online. In
SharePoint, You can now monitor which phones have access to your information
and block access to unsecured mobile devices and external customers.
Communication Sites- new Feature introduced
One more feature which is
brought by SharePoint 2019 is communication sites. Microsoft purpose for
introducing these is to be the central repository for all your team
information, from Yammer messages to Twitter feeds to Outlook group calendars
and more. Even better, you can now send news alerts to your customers through
mobile devices. For HR departments or anyone who has ever had a new policy
published, this latest feature can be a bonus to your adaption rates.
Team Sites- updated
SharePoint team sites have
been there since the early versions of the program, but with SharePoint 2019,
they are getting a significant facelift. They're linked to your Outlook Groups,
which means you can maintain all your communications along with a shared
mailbox, calendar, and more. You can easily add websites from other components
of the SharePoint setting (such as the HR page) to your team site and view news
articles from across the site.
Hub Sites- a new feature introduced
One unique function to be
added to SharePoint 2019 is Hub Sites. Microsoft calls it a "new Building
Block Of Intranet" that offers the ability to gather information from
across your environment and show it on a single page. Users can add various sites
to a single dashboard-like page, display news articles, update records, and
more. You can connect communication sites and team sites that are also
integrated into Outlook.
